EVERY CHILD HARNESSES GREATNESS
At Family Martial Arts, we believe every child has greatness inside them. Our job is to bring that to the surface! We do that by focusing on delivering a positive teaching style you want your child around. We offer an amazing, fun atmosphere to learn, get your “ninja on”, and develop leadership skills that inspire the greatness to emerge from within your child!
Our program is designed to take things hard or challenging for your child’s age group, get your child good… then raise the bar! We get them good again, and raise the bar again so that by the time your child graduates our program, they are, on average, ranking in the top 10% of kids their age across the country! This along with our amazing family atmosphere and caring staff is the breeding ground for developing your child’s focus, confidence and discipline!

My name is Brian Baker, I am currently a 4th Degree Black Belt.
I trained under Olympian, Master Barb Kunkel, and have found that teaching has become a passion of mine. I absolutely love working with kids! More importantly, I love inspiring students to be their best! I have had the opportunity to be surrounded by the best of the best in the Taekwondo world!
I have a unique approach to balancing discipline and confidence with a very positive style of teaching of looking for the best in the kids I teach.
GROWTH & POSITIVE ENERGY: A PARENT’S HONEST REVIEW OF FAMILY MARTIAL ARTS
This review is a long time coming. My son has been attending here for 5 years. I must say that even after five years, I still think this place is great. From the very first week, the energy in this place has been positive and uplifting. 5 years later, the energy is still great! Putting on a show for a week or two is one thing. But it’s impressive to have that same high energy over and over again for years. It is definitely the culture built into this place.
I am honestly impressed by the detail of instruction built into every aspect of their work. I’ve been around long enough to hear the instructors talk over and over about the skills students are developing through each activity. I’ve seen them stand on one foot or play an odd variation of dodgeball just to find out the odd changes have the purpose of developing some muscle or some skill. Seriously, how many hours must the staff invest behind the scenes to create activities that build martial arts skills while having fun? How do they make strength-building day fun? My son ends class sweating, out of breath, and yet still smiling!!
I also want to be honest about the other side of the coin. I’ve had times when my son felt overwhelmed, struggling to learn balance, a particular kick, or some skill. There have been times when he had to learn how to cope with coming up short. The coaches are patient and very good at finding the balance between pushing him to go farther than he thinks he can go or taking a step back. I’ve seen them break down a kick into parts and focus on just getting parts 1 and 2. Then the coach tells my kid something like, “we will work on making that better next time.” This approach leaves my kid knowing that he has work to do, but still feeling encouraged because he’s making progress.
Sorry for the long review, but if you’re trying to decide if this is the right place to enroll, I want you to have an honest, more in-depth feel about the experience here. I don’t feel like I’m paying for a subscription. I feel like I’m investing in my son, and in return gaining martial arts knowledge and a support structure that helps him develop in a positive manner.
